This is the End

This is the end.... beautiful friends. It has been a fun semester on Exploring the Internet. I learned a lot about creating a web page which is never hurtful to have in my repertoire. I also really enjoyed talking about all the delicious food I ate... I hope you did too!!

Last Food Blog - Filho's

I ate out for my grandmothers birthday at Filho's Cuchina on Thursday last week. She is 84! (my grandma, not me). Filho's is in Groton, MA. I got the best lobster ravioli I have ever had. Filho's is a small italian place, and it is BYOB (very informal). It is a really cool place!

Interactive Web Pages/Javascript

Interactive Web Pages are very useful and I am glad we learned how to create a basic javascript. I am looking forward to see how much more interactive we will get with the pages in this class. I also want to play around with my buttons a little bit and have some fun throwing in some silly (yet appropriate stuff).

Chicken and Waffles

Chicken and Waffles. I love Fried Chicken. I love Waffles. Put 'em together and my is it good. I was in Key West for my Spring Break and we made a lot of food. However, the only time I ate out was our last morning there. We stopped at a little local place with fried chicken. The whole time I was thinking "oh man, I hope they have chicken and waffles" and they did!! Put the fried chicken in the waffle, add syrup and this place also had honey mustard which I had never put on my chicken n' waffles before, but it was amazing!! Wrap em up in a chicken waffle taco and bam its the best. Yum.

Broccoli

Today I made cream of broccoli soup. Broccoli is under rated (unless everyone does love it). I like it a lot and its healthy. The cream of broccoli soup was so good, even though its just cream, spices, milk, butter, and broccoli (which might be un healthy), I still love it! And it doesn't get much better for a college student (just kidding it does, but this was easy!)

Switching it up

I know we usually talk about food. So I just lied I'm not switching it up. We talkin' bout chicken and waffles, people! I love chicken and waffles. Put the fried chicken (boneless) in the waffle, add syrup, chicken and waffle taco! Bam! God I love this so much its ridiculous. This has been a PSA by Cary DeMello

Website Styling

I have never had experience making a website, so this has been great. I am learning a lot about HTML coding, which may come in handy for me some day. I am in HR, but it is definitely a good skill to have. I am also catching on quickly, which is great as I have always been tech savvy. It's even kind of fun!

Sick.

I got sick last week and it was terrible. Yes, it happens to all of us, some of us every year. I hate being sick because I can't eat tons of delicious food. Only comfort food, which isn't so bad I guess. I had a lot of tomato soup. That's my food for last week.

Internet and the Media

The internet and web don't just effect the media. Now, they ARE the media. We rely on the internet for answers all the time, we have it at our fingertips on our smart phones to get the latest news and stories. The newspapers and nightly news on TV constantly reference the internet for not just sources, but for entire stories. There is always some new youtube video that is sweeping the world (cough PSY cough), or some website doing something controversial.
I don't know about anyone else, but the I get nearly all my media from the web. I don't have cable at my apartment, so if I'm online I am probably getting some type of news and media exposure.
The web has forever changed things, and will never leave. It will be the most prominent source of news and media for the rest of our lives, unless of course the government's of the world decide to heavily censor the internet which would be an absolute disaster, but that's a discussion for another day.

Superbowl food

Now we talkin' bout some football baby!! Now the super bowl is always fun to watch (even if I am still fighting a bout of serious depression with the Patriots losing) and always has good football, family, and friends. But most importantly, football food is the best and in abundance on the super bowl! My friends and I made some delicious stuff (not as much as the video I have at the end of this blog, but we had some good foods). We made some really good buffalo chicken dip, some taquitos, and of course Supreme Nachos. We didn't have any expensive pulled pork or anything (even though I wish we did), but that's okay. Once I graduate and get a job and have cash monies, then I can get tons of food and a have a super feast like these guys....

Chowderfest!!!!!!

My topic of choice is My Life. I didn't really make that clear in my previous posts. Anyway, I will more specifically write about food a lot of the time. I'm not fat, I swear, but I do love food. I definitely have a a little beer gut, but no big deal. Anyway, this weekend I went to Saratoga Springs, NY for "Chowderfest." It is a glorious occasion. About 78 restaurants in Saratoga (mostly downtown). These restaurants all compete in who can make the best chowder. My favorite (and the eventual winner of the People's Choice award) was Seven Horses Pub. They had a creamy corn chowder with bacon and pulled pork in it, garnished with a piece of Cornbead. It was amazing. Here is the poster for the 15th annual Chowderfest! I can't wait to go up again next year.

It is amazing how much the internet has changed Education. It has allowed anyone in the world on a computer with an internet connection to self-educate with endless information. There is not only actual on-line only schools and libraries, but you can access countless scholarly articles with any sort of information you can imagine.
Now, this whole thing can be tricky because people can also post whatever they want on the internet. People may lie and make websites look legitimate when they are in fact, fake. It also allows for a lot of groups to spread propaganda which may not be believable.
I personally am very careful with where I take real articles from and who has written them, but generally I find a plethora of useful, truthful information. I have learned so much from surfing the internet, more than I ever could have in school. It may not all be exact "book-learning" (TV show reference - Trailer Park Boys) like we do in school, but it is an alternative way of obtaining endless information at my finger tips - instantly. It is amazing.

Internet has forever changed Education, as it also has all of our lives. Long Live the WWW

Who exactly, is Da Care Bear?

My name is Cary DeMello. I am a male and a Senior Psych major (business minor) and am graduating in May (as long as I do welll this semester. I work in Human Resources and am currently in the middle of my fourth internship. Right now, I work in Talent Acquisition (recruiting) for EMC Corporation.

Looking forward to this class, it should be pretty fun.

Some people call me Care Bear, The Bear, Bear Care, Care near, etc. It's fun I guess.
